Project Overview

Project Brief

This project was a competitive live entertainment production designed for the NCA and USA December Virtual Championships. The goal was to create a performance that combined storytelling, movement, visual design, and technical execution into a concise, high-impact routine. Rather than approaching the competition as a single performance, it was treated as a full production pipeline, requiring careful planning, asset development, budgeting, coordination, and final delivery under professional competitive standards.

The performance needed to function simultaneously as a creative showpiece and a technically precise submission, where every element had to support clarity, timing, and visual storytelling. The project emphasized cohesion across all creative disciplines while maintaining strict attention to competition requirements and production deadlines.

Creative Development

The creative phase focused on building a complete narrative arc within a 1.5-minute performance while maintaining strong visual clarity and emotional pacing. Every design choice needed to communicate character, energy, and story instantly, making cohesion between sound, movement, and visuals essential. The routine was developed as a miniature live show rather than a single performance, emphasizing storytelling and production polish.

  • Designed custom audio (with provided materials and purchasing rights) to establish rhythm, transitions, and emotional beats

  • Developed choreography and movement language that maximized character expression

  • Integrated costume styling to support visual clarity and brand identity

Production & Asset Development

Once the creative direction was established, concepts were translated into physical and digital assets that could withstand rehearsal, filming, and competitive review. Scenic and prop elements were treated as production assets, requiring durability, consistency, and performance usability. This phase mirrored professional entertainment workflows where design intent must be realized through fabrication and technical coordination.

  • Coordinated construction of scenic and prop elements with external builders

  • Oversaw asset quality, timelines, and design consistency

  • Ensured all elements supported performer mobility and visual readability

Team Coordination

The project required close collaboration with athletic directors, school administration, and Student Council to align scheduling, approvals, and performance logistics. Communication ensured that all stakeholders were informed of project goals, timelines, and outcomes. Coordination extended beyond production and into event planning, particularly for the public viewing event that allowed the school community to experience the competition performance collectively. These partnerships emphasized how live entertainment projects succeed through alignment between creative teams and institutional leadership.

Event Execution

Beyond competition submission, the project was extended into a shared community experience through a campus-wide public viewing event. This transformed the performance into a live entertainment moment that engaged the student body and celebrated creative achievement. Event execution required logistical planning, technical coordination, and audience experience design.

  • Planned and executed a public viewing event for ~1,200 students

  • Coordinated scheduling, venue setup, and presentation logistics

  • Expanded the project’s impact beyond competition into live audience engagement
